Testing to DLC lighting requirements must be completed by an Accredited Laboratory, with test results submitted directly to the DLC by the manufacturer. If a product meets the Design Lights Consortium's criteria, it can be added to the QLP, which you can access and search online. Products are searchable by keyword, manufacturer, or criteria such as efficacy, wattage, CCT, CRI, category, dimming criteria, and much more.

The DLC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the widespread adoption of high-performing commercial lighting solutions. The DLC promotes high-quality, energy-efficient lighting products in collaboration with utilities and energy-efficiency program members; manufacturers; lighting designers; and federal, state, and local entities. Through these partnerships, the DLC establishes product quality specifications; facilitates thought leadership; and provides information, education, tools, and technical expertise. The DLC’s Horticultural QPL currently contains more than 400 products, with more being reviewed and added regularly. In the early days of the DLC, we developed our requirements to focus on efficacy — the amount of useful light output per unit of electricity — with regular increases that aligned with the pace of technology. Over time, LED luminaire and lamp efficacy has increased by 30–40% depending on the type of product. The higher efficacy value signifies greater energy efficiency and more light output for the power consumed, saving commercial and industrial customers energy and money.
